Jessie Leoma Scarber

Jessie Leoma Scarber, 91, of Nashville, formerly of DuQuoin, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2000 at 5:00 p.m. at Friendship Manor in Nashville.
Mrs. Scarber was a housewife and a member of Faith Assembly of God church.
She was born July 28, 1908 at Ware Station, IL, the daughter of John and Florabell (Biederbach) Griffin.  She married William Scott Norris in 1926 at DuQuoin and was divorced from him in 1945, with four children to raise.  In 1951 she married John Scarber in St. Louis, MO.  They resided in DuQuoin all their lives.
Surviving are two sons, Frank and Iris Norris of Hinckley, IL and William and Mary Alice Norris of Brooklyn, NY; one daughter, Janice Scarber of Christopher; one brother, Oscar Griffin of Kansas City, MO; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; one sister; several half-brothers and sisters; a daughter, Joyce (Norris) Burton and both her husbands.
Funeral services were Friday, February 4 at 11 a.m. at Neal-McClure Funeral Home in DuQuoin.  Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery at DuQuoin.
Friends were able to call Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
